Problem

When checking for updates on Windows 7, Windows Update gets stuck checking for updates…

Checking for updates.

Solution

Step 1 – Change how updates are received

Navigate to Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Windows Update>Change Settings & change important updates to ‘Never check for updates (not recommended)’

 windows update check & then install all required updates.

Step 2 – Restart the computer

Step 6 – Restart the computer

Step 7 – Check for updates & download/install all required updates.

Perform a windows update check & then install all required updates.

Step 8 – Once updates have been installed restart the machine

Restart now option

Step 9 – Change how updates are received back to your preferred setting

Navigate to Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Windows Update>Change Settings & change important updates to your preferred setting.
